Election Day is one of many days throughout the year on which retailers and restaurants offer special discounts or free things. However, freebies won’t be as prevalent this year as voters go to the polls as in the past – perhaps because of concerns about violating laws that prohibit giving gifts in exchange for voting. For example, a Georgia store has come under fire for offering voters a chance to win a free gun. (The owner responded by opening the raffle to anyone, not just voters.)

There still will be a few freebies and deals offered November 6. Here’s what we’ve found. If you know of any, please share them in the comments box below or on our Facebook page.

Free tacos. California Tortilla will be giving away free tacos November 6 at all its locations to anyone who wears an "I Voted" sticker or who says, "Vote."

Free sopapillas. On the Border has a coupon on its Facebook page free sopapilla.

Free dessert. Get a free Dolcini with the purchase of an adult entrée at Olive Garden on November 6.

Free wristband. Participating Starbucks stores (sorry I don't have a list -- Starbucks didn't post one on its Facebook page) are giving away Indivisible wristbands on November 6. (Learn more about the wristbands.)

Half-price car. Car-sharing company Zipcar is offering 50% off on rates from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on November 6. The discount is available to Zipcar members who make an hourly reservation. There is no requirement to vote. See Zip to the Polls for more information.

Free flight. JetBlue is offering those who enter its Election Protection 2012 sweepstakes a chance to win a free flight out of the country if their candidate loses the presidential election. To enter, vote Democrat or Republican in the airline’s poll, select a destination, then submit a registration form. You will be entered in the sweepstakes if the candidate you selected loses the election. JetBlue will be awarding 1,006 travel certificates redeemable for base fare of a roundtrip to JetBlue’s Caribbean destinations. Winners will be selected November 7.

Free frozen treat. Rock the Vote is partnering with Shake Shack for a promotion called "Shack the Vote." Visit the Rock the Vote site to fill out a "pledge to vote" card then turn in the card at participating Shake Shack locations November 2 to receive a voucher for a free cup or cone of custard. Participating restaurants include New York locations in Madison Square Park, Brooklyn, Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Theater District, Battery Park; Florida locations in Coral Gables and Miami Beach; Connecticut locations in Westport and New Haven; Philadelphia; and Washington, D.C.

Free yoga. Athletic wear retailer Lululemon is partnering with the Washington, D.C., area yoga community to offer free yoga classes November 6. Visit Lululemon’s blog for a list of participating studios.

Free rides. Check with your local transit authority or taxi service to see if it’s offering free rides on Election Day because several across the country are. For example, two taxi services in Salt Lake City, Utah, will be offering free rides to the polls. The La Crosse, Wis., Municipal Transit Utility will be offering free rides on November 6. Ocean City, Md., will be offering free bus service. And The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (Tampa, Fla.) will offer free rides to voters on Election Day. Customers must present a valid voter registration card to the driver when they get on the bus on November 6 to get a free ride.

Even though many establishments aren't offering freebies nationwide, some of their locations may have special deals on November 6. Check your favorite restaurant or retailer's Facebook page or Twitter feed closer to Election Day to see if it is offering freebies.
