Best and Worst Buys of June

Cameron Huddleston

You'll find deals on cruises and vacations in the Caribbean, but don't expect to see deep discounts on tools for Dad.

If you head to the mall to escape the heat as temperatures rise this month, make sure you get a deal if you buy anything. Here’s what you can expect to find on sale in June -- and what you should wait a little longer to buy, according to dealnews.com, which analyzes deals from past years to predict what will be discounted this year.

What's on sale this month ...

Caribbean cruises and vacations. Because it's now hurricane season, you can find deals on cruises in this region (on top of already low prices). Flights to Caribbean destinations and hotel prices also are cheaper.

HDTVs. June usually isn't a big month for TV deals, but name-brand 46" and 47" LCD HDTV prices are at an all-time low. Dealnews.com recommends looking for models from Sharp or Toshiba priced at $490 or lower.

Laptops. Now is a good time to buy a high-end, fully equipped Windows laptop because prices are at an all-time low. Look for deals around $700 or less on 16-inch laptops.

Lingerie. Victoria's Secret usually has its semi-annual sale in June. Last year, there also were deals from aerie by American Eagle, Frederick's of Hollywood, Macy's, Soma Intimates and Figleaves. You'll also find lingerie prices discounted October to December.

Wait a little longer to buy ...

Grills. Prices start to drop in June. But if you can hold out until later in the season, you'll see even better deals.

Tools. Avoid the temptation to get Dad tools for Father's Day. The best deals are in July (also November and December).
