Save money on your football festivities -- or on game-day getaways.



For football fans, the biggest day of the year is almost here -- Super Bowl Sunday. With the help of some of my favorite deal finders -- Coupon Sherpa, CouponShack.com and SmarterTravel.com -- I've rounded up deals to help you save money whether you're throwing a Super Bowl party, planning on watching it at a restaurant or bar or looking for last-minute accommodations in South Florida, where the big game will be. If you want to escape the football madness, we have deals for you, too.

Pizza and restaurant deals

American are expected to eat more than 30 million slices of pizza Sunday when the Indianapolis Colts take on the New Orleans Saints. Super Bowl sponsor Papa John's will charge just $10 for all large pizzas and $11.99 for an extra-large pizza with four toppings. And Pizza Hut will let you order any pizza for $10. The national pizza chains aren't the only ones offering deals on game day. See Mr. Free Stuff's list of 99 restaurants that will be offering free pizza delivery Sunday.

P.F. Chang's is offering a customers a $10 gift card for every $50 they spend February 7. Denny's will announce during its Super Bowl ad that it's giving away Original Grand Slam breakfasts February 9.

Party deals

Nearly 32 million people are expected to host Super Bowl parties, according to the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association's 2010 Super Bowl survey. And they're expected to spend, on average, about $52 for snacks, apparel and merchandise. To lower your costs, here are several coupon codes from CouponShack.com.

For flights, “there aren’t a ton of great deals," says Anne Banas, executive editor of SmarterTravel.com. However, she recommends looking at alternative airports, such as West Palm Beach or even Ft. Myers, or driving to save a few bucks. For lodging, consider vacation rentals or properties in nearby cities (rather than hotels) by checking FlipKey.com.

Deals for those skipping the game

Women, if you're stuck at home making snacks for a Super Bowl party but aren't interested in watching the game, you can find deals if you shop online. Edressme.com is offering 30% off all purchases made on Super Bowl Sunday (coupon code superbowl10).

Super Bowl Sunday is a great day to go skiing at a discount. At Liftopia.com, you can find 44 deals (in honor of Super Bowl XLIV) with savings of up to 63% on lift tickets at ski resorts across the country
