Of course there is a $1300 price difference between those two Sony TV's. They are comparing a horrible looking 120hz LCD against a top of the line 240hz LED television.

Your infographic is very misleading. The models of television you chose for comparison with Sony are completely mismatched. While the size of the screens are the same, nothing else compares. You are comparing last year's middle of the road Sony with this year's top of the line LED television.
The more accurate comparison would be the KDL-55EX500 which is listed at $1799. While still more expensive, it is a bigger and better equipped television.
You are also quoting most manufacturer's high end models. A vast majority of the new medium to lower class tvs from the name brands are substantially cheaper than last year's equivalent models. Sometimes up to $300 cheaper. Perhaps next time make your comparisons a bit more equal.

There seems to be an error - Sony and Visio are swapped in either of (a) "Preferred Flat-Panel TV Brands By Household Income" or (b) "Top 6 U.S. Flat-Panel TV Brands by 2009 Market Share".
No income level preferred Visio above 12%, so it's unlikely that Visio's U.S. market share is almost 17%. The reverse is true for Sony.
It's remotely possible, if the data covers different groups (Americans vs. the world), but even if that's true the difference is very unlikely.

This graphic has so many holes, misconceptions, ignorant misuse of terms, disregard for the technology that they are speaking of, and an all-round lack of professional research and basic due diligence, that this should be treated as just another piece of web garbage. When purchasing any piece of electronics, do your homework. Compare apples to apples. Know the technology and make the purchase that is just right for you. If you are simply making a purchase to save money, buy the cheapest thing you can grab off the shelf at your local Wall-Mart, cuz you wont care enough to justify any difference in quality.
