Isn't less lending going to help things? I could have sworn there was a national crisis a very short time ago because too many people had too much money on loan that too many of them couldn't ever pay back. Wouldn't it be better for people to, I dunno, STOP TAKING OUT LOANS THEY CANNOT AFFORD? Mortgages are the worst kind of loan - they lock you into a single home, for up to twenty five years, or longer if you were really lucky. Then you get to deal with the house itself, which is almost guaranteed to be poorly built and full of problems because no housing company will spend money on things it doesn't have to (like roofing nails!). Top that off with high payments, every month, on time, for DECADES, and you get an idea of why there was a bailout in the first place. America: 300 million fools, and they STILL DON'T GET IT.
