Annual Car Buyer's Guide Corrections

Compiling Kiplinger's annual car rankings is a big task every year, and we occasionally hear back from our readers that a vehicle specification is incorrect. We do our best to prevent these errors, but if they do occur, we correct them promptly in our online tool. The majority of vehicle specs come from a data vendor (this year, TrueCar) and we build our rankings model on top of that data. This year there were more than 1,600 vehicles in our system (accounting for all the trim levels of each model). While we do spot-check for glaring errors (40 cubic feet of cargo space for a Mini, horsepower in the 1,000s, etc.), it's nearly impossible to make sure each number is correct. We thank you for your patience.

Corrections:

Cars Under $20,000

Ford Focus SE 4dr hatch – Rear legroom is 33 inches.

Cars $20,000-$25,000

Subaru Legacy 2.5i AWD 4dr – This vehicle uses regular gas.

Chrysler 200 Touring 4dr – Horsepower is 173.

Cars $30,000-$40,000

BMW 328i 4dr – Mileage was unavailable at press time for the March issue, and should have been listed as NA. The EPA now lists it as 23/34P.

Cars $40,000-$50,000

BMW 355i xDrive 2dr – The 3.0-liter engine is turbocharged.

Cars $50,000 and Over

BMW 335i convertible – The 3.0-liter engine is turbocharged.

Wagons and Minivans

Subaru Outback 2.5i AWD – This vehicle uses regular gas.

Chrysler Town & Country Limited – Horsepower is 283.

Small Crossovers

Jeep Patriot Sport – Horsepower is 158.

Midsize and Large Crossovers

Chevrolet Equinox LS – Horsepower is 182.
