Best and Worst Buys of June 2013

You'll find lingerie, Caribbean cruises, laptops and more on sale this month.

Now that warmer weather has arrived in many parts of the country, you might be thinking about buying a grill for summer cookouts, maybe some outdoor furniture or a swimsuit for the pool. Unfortunately, because the summer season is just getting under way, many retail items associated with this time of year won't be on sale yet. However, that doesn't mean there aren't deals to be found. Here’s what items will be great buys in June -- and what you should wait a little longer to buy, according to dealnews.com, which analyzes deals from past years to predict what will be discounted this year, and Deals2Buy.com, a site for discounts and close-out inventory offers.

What's on sale this month ...

Caribbean cruises and vacations. Because it's now hurricane season, you can find deals on cruises in this region (on top of already low prices). Flights to Caribbean destinations and hotel prices also are cheaper.

Laptops. Back-to-school laptop sales usually start in June. You'll see discounts on the laptops themselves, as well as bundle offers for laptops with a printer, gaming console or gift card. According to dealnews.com, though, you might see better bundles in July and August.

Lingerie. Victoria's Secret usually has its semi-annual sale in June. Last year, there also were deals from Bare Necessities, Frederick's of Hollywood, Macy's and Maindenform. You'll also find lingerie prices discounted October to December.

Tablets. Discounts on a few tablets have started to appear this month, says Mike Spankie, senior merchandising manager of Deals2Buy.com. Amazon has marked down the Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch and Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch 4G by $20 through June 8. Dell has marked down its XPS 10 tablet by $50 through June 15.

Tools. You'll see plenty of sales on tools in advance of Father's Day. But you'll need to wait until October and November for deep discounts on large, pricey power tools.

Wait a little longer to buy ...

Apple products. Prices on current models might drop after Apple's annual developers' conference in June. So hold off on any Apple purchases to see if any new items are announced this summer.

Grills. Prices start to drop in June. But if you can hold out until later in the season, you'll see even better deals.
