Earnings spotlight: Salesforce

Salesforce (CRM) is one of several tech stocks on the earnings calendar, with the software-as-a-service (SaaS) firm slated to release its fiscal third-quarter results after Tuesday's close.

Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $2.45 per share, up 16.1% year over year, on revenue of $9.4 billion (+7.2% YoY).

"In our view, CRM has a favorable setup to be a good improving business story over the next twelve months driven by artificial intelligence (AI) product cycles, a positive outlook for the fiscal fourth quarter, easier year-over-year comparisons, and continuing margin growth," says Oppenheimer analyst Brian Schwartz (Outperform, the equivalent of Buy).

Schwartz anticipates better consistency in CRM's third-quarter report and a favorable outlook for the fiscal fourth quarter due to an IT budget flush.

Earnings spotlight: Ulta Beauty

It's been a rough 2024 for Ulta Beauty (ULTA) stock, which is down more than 22% for the year to date as of this writing. Can a well-received earnings report give the consumer discretionary stock a much-needed boost?

Wall Street will find out when the cosmetics retailer discloses its fiscal third-quarter report after Thursday's close.

Oppenheimer analyst Rupesh Parikh (Outperform, the equivalent of Buy) thinks Ulta will see pressure from Kohl's and Sephora openings, challenges in the mass cosmetics category and moderating growth rates in prestige beauty. However, the analyst says the former Berkshire Hathaway equity holding remains "appropriate for longer-term players" and any dips should be bought.

Overall, analysts expect ULTA to report earnings of $4.51 per share (-11% YoY) on revenue of $2.5 billion (+0.2% YoY).
